“It’s a people mover, not a people impresser.” That’s what Jay Leno had to say when he first saw the Chevy Volt, Chevy’s first hybrid car powered primarily by electricity.
A self-professed car fanatic and collector and connoisseur of many, Leno clearly has changed his mind. He was one of the first in line to purchase a Volt when it became available earlier this month. “Electricity is like sex. People lie about it, ” Leno quipped. “You never get quite as far in an electric car as you say you will. So there’s electricity when you need it and gas when you really want it.”
When asked why he wanted to buy the Volt, Leno replied that he like the fact that it uses “American technology” and is “made in Detroit.”
The electricity-gas combo is the secret behind the Volt. Electricity is the main power source, but there’s also a gas-powered onboard generator that allows 375 miles of total driving.
So could Leno be a trendsetter with his green car purchase? Time, and car sales, will tell.

Just when you thought the feud between Jay Leno and Conan O’Brien was over, last Sunday’s 60 Minutes episode proved that there are still some hard feelings on the side of Team CoCo.
O’Brien admitted that he was depressed after his position on “The Tonight Show” was canceled, but said that touring has helped. Coincidentally, Jay Leno is also on tour, but seems to be over the whole issue.
